Whether you’re working in construction, road maintenance, civil works, event management, or any other environment where controlling traffic is required, follow these simple steps to obtain your official Traffic Control certification.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Traffic Control ticket do I need to work on roadwork or construction sites?
In most states, you need the Control Traffic (TC) ticket to use a Stop/Slow bat and safely direct vehicles.
If you need to set up traffic plans, signs, and cones, you’ll also require the Traffic Management (TMI) ticket. Many employers prefer or require both.
Do I need any experience to enrol in Traffic Control training?
No prior experience is needed. Our Traffic Control and Traffic Management courses are designed for beginners and cover all skills required to work safely around live traffic.
How long does it take to receive my Traffic Control ticket?
You’ll receive your Statement of Attainment (SOA) on the same day you complete training. This allows you to start work immediately. Some states may also issue a wallet-sized card or require employer verification, depending on local regulations.
Is my Traffic Control ticket recognised Australia-wide?
Yes. National Courses delivers nationally recognised units of competency, meaning your SOA is valid across all Australian states and territories. Always check site-specific or state-specific requirements before starting a new project.
Do I need both Traffic Control and Traffic Management courses?
You only need Traffic Control (TC) to operate the Stop/Slow bat, but many employers require both TC + TMI because it allows you to set up signs, cones, traffic plans, and manage work zones. Completing both gives you more job opportunities and flexibility.
Do you offer on-site private group training?
Yes. National Courses delivers on-site Traffic Control and Traffic Management training for companies, projects, or work crews. We can train your team at your site using your equipment (where compliant) or at one of our approved locations.
Group bookings often include flexible scheduling and competitive pricing.
