• What are the ID requirements?

  If you are doing the White Card in NSW you are required to provide 100 points of ID. All documents must be original and issued in Australia. (Your passport may be from overseas.) Digital licences (e.g. Service NSW app) are accepted. If you are new to the country (been here less than 6 weeks) or a high school student, please scroll down as you are exempt from the 100 points

  Who’s Exempt from 100-Point ID?

  You do not need to present 100 points of ID if you fall into any of these categories:

  • New arrivals (in Australia for less than six weeks)

  • Current high school students

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

  Exemptions in Detail

  1. New Arrivals (Less Than 6 Weeks)

  Bring:

  • Passport or visa

  • Bank card or driver’s licence from your home country

  2. Current High School Students

  Bring either:

  • Your school ID

  • One of: driver’s licence, birth certificate, passport, or citizenship certificate with evidence you are in school. You must show the trainer you are still enrolled. This could be by logging in to your school portal. If you are unable to provide evidence you are in school, you need to provide 100 points.

  3. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Applicants

  If you lack sufficient ID, provide two official references from recognised agencies.

• What is a White Card NSW?

  A White Card is an official certification required to work on construction sites in New South Wales. It proves that you have completed general construction induction training and understand how to identify and manage safety risks in the workplace.

• How long is a White Card course in NSW?

  The NSW White Card course typically takes around 6 hours total (+ breaks) to complete and is conducted in a single day.

• Is my NSW White Card recognised nationally?

  Yes, your NSW White Card is nationally recognised across Australia, allowing you to work in the construction industry in any state or territory.

• Will my NSW White Card expire?

  No, your White Card does not expire as long as you continue working in the construction industry. However, if you leave the industry for an extended period (2+ years), you will need to retake the course to refresh your knowledge.

• USI Requirements

  All participants enrolling in our short courses are required to have a USI. The USI is a national identifier that allows your training records to be securely stored and accessed online.

  If you already have a USI, please provide it during enrollment.

  If you do not have a USI, you will need to create one before starting the course. Creating a USI is free and can be done online using your personal details, such as your name, date of birth, and email.

  The USI ensures that your course completion is officially recorded and accessible for future reference.

• How is the training delivered?

  The White Card is delivered face to face in the classroom or in a live virtual classroom. You must be in NSW to complete the NSW white card course.

• Do I need prior industry experience?

  No prior experience in the construction industry is required to complete the White Card course. It is designed for people new to working on construction sites as well as experienced workers who need the certification.

• What are the entry requirements?

  You have to be able to read simple signs and short texts, write basic answers on forms, and follow verbal instructions during the session. A bit of basic numeracy helps too, like reading the time or simple measurements.

  You must be able to complete the course in English without an interpreter. You don’t need to be fluent in English to do this White Card course in NSW. A basic level is fine as long as you can follow along, understand safety instructions, and communicate with your trainer. If English is your second language, that’s completely fine. Just make sure you’re comfortable enough to participate and take in the safety content.

  You must also have the physical ability to demonstrate the correct use of PPE.
  If you require LLN assistance, please let us know before booking. We may be able to offer support, make reasonable adjustments, or recommend alternative options.

  Please note – all our training is delivered face to face and is paper based so you don’t need any digital skills.

• What assessments will I need to complete?

  To successfully complete the course, you will be required to complete multiple-choice and short-answer written questions, fill in a short form, and demonstrate the correct use of PPE. In some cases, your assessor may be able to read the questions and help record your answers (for more information, see the Training Support Section below).

• Certification and Licence Requirements

  You will receive a Statement of Attainment by email on the same day you complete the course for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry.

  You will also receive a Statement of Training (SOT), which acts as your temporary White Card for 60 days. It is accepted Australia-wide as evidence that you have completed the required training and can be used immediately.

  Your physical White Card will be posted by Service NSW and generally arrives within 2–4 weeks. If you have not received it after four weeks, please contact Service NSW on 13 10 50.

• What do I do if I need training or other support to complete the course?

  Please tell us before you enrol if you have any support needs. This may include physical or wellbeing support or help with reading, writing, or numeracy. We will contact you and do a short check first. This helps us adjust your training and assessment. Adjustments may include extra one-on-one time with the trainer or LLN support, such as help reading questions.

• What are the course fees and what do I do if I want to cancel my enrolment and get a refund?

  The course fee is from $99. This includes all learning material and resources to complete the course.

  All fees must be paid in full before attending the course.

  Refunds, booking changes and rebooking:

  At National Courses we keep it simple. You can change, refund or cancel your booking at anytime. No extra charges. Our bookings are 100% flexible. 

  If we ever cancel a course, you will be given the option to rebook or obtain a full refund.
