Which RSA course should I choose?
Choose the state where you intend to work. Course delivery, identification and certification requirements can vary. Read that state’s course page before enrolling.
How much does an RSA course cost?
Current bookable courses are $150 in NSW and $90 in South Australia. Confirm the price on your selected session before enrolling. Contact us for availability in other states.
How is RSA training delivered?
Our listed RSA courses are delivered face to face. Your selected state page explains the venue, duration, assessment and current dates.
Does the RSA certificate expire?
For most states, the RSA doesn’t expire once you got it.
NSW is the main exception, your RSA Competency Card is valid for 5 years, then you need a refresher course to renew it. Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania issue RSAs that don’t expire. Rules can still change, so if you’re unsure, check with your state’s liquor licensing regulator or ask your employer what they require.
How long do RSA courses last?
Our face-to-face RSA courses run for 6 hours + breaks. The exact time depends on your state and delivery method, since each state uses its own approved provider and process.
Refresher courses (needed periodically in states like NSW) are shorter, often 2 to 3 hours, since they cover updates rather than the full course again.
Is the RSA course hard?
The RSA course isn’t hard. It’s designed for anyone entering hospitality, no matter their experience. You’ll learn how to serve alcohol responsibly, recognise intoxication, and know when and how to refuse service, then complete a short knowledge check or quiz to confirm you understood it.
Most people pass on their first attempt, but we let you retake any section you’re unsure about before you finish.
Can I use my RSA in other states?
Most states don’t recognise an interstate RSA, so you’ll usually need to complete a new course for the state you’re working in.
NSW is strict about this and requires you to complete their full course from scratch. Some other states offer a shorter bridging or refresher option instead of a full course. If you’re moving states for work, check with that state’s liquor licensing regulator first so you’re not caught out.
What if I fail the assessment?
If you don’t pass the assessment on your first attempt, you’ll have the opportunity to redo it. Our trainers are there to support you throughout the day, so if you’re struggling with any part of the material, please tell us and ask for help.
We want you to walk out with your certificate, and we’ll do what we can to make sure you’re set up to pass.
